Understanding Your Child – Solihull Approach

10 week course starting on 14^th Feb, running on Fridays between 12:00pm – 2:00pm.

This is a course for all parents, grandparents and carers of children aged 6 months to 6 years, covering topics such as:

• Feelings
• Importance of Play
• Effective Communication
• Developmental Needs
• Challenging Behaviour
• Sleep

Peep groups are for mums, dads, carers and their children together, and aim to support families with their children’s early learning in a simple and enjoyable way.

The different elements of a Peep group provide opportunities to have fun together and to share the key ideas that support children’s development. Peep sessions include:

• songs and rhymes
• joint play activities
• a talking time for adults (chatting about an aspect of children’s development)
• story and book-sharing time
• ideas for families to try at home.

A group run by the Torbay Portage Service.

It is a small toddler group offered to parents and their children with special educational needs.

The aims of the group are

• To give parents opportunities to meet one another and the Portage Home Visitors and for staff to get to know families and children.
• For parents to be able to ask questions and share support ideas.
• For children to be able to experience accessible play and learning experiences within a small group.
• For staff members to share play and learning ideas to meet young children’s needs.

This is a support group for young parents – aimed at parents 25 and under.

We meet every Monday 10:30am-12pm at the Beehive (except Bank Holidays). Refreshments available.

No need to book – Just turn up.

Would you like more information on when and how to start your baby on solid food? If so, come along to one of our drop in information sessions held each month at our Feed and Nurture Groups. A Community Nursery Nurse will be there with resources and to talk through the process. Please come along If you have any questions or worries about starting solids.

No need to book – just turn up!

We are offering appointment only clinics for people who are worried about their baby or child’s development and for those that need to see a health visitor. Please give us a call or email us. Depending on your needs you will receive phone support or be seen face to face. You can also find lots of helpful information, advice and support on our Family Hub website.
