Peep

Peep – Supporting parents and children to learn together!

Peep groups are free, fun and friendly, and are for parents and carers with Preschool children to help support with early language and development.

Weekly groups:
Sherwell Valley Primary School – Mondays, 9am – 10:30am
Windmill Centre, Torquay – Wednesdays, 10am – 11:30am
Foxhole Community Centre, Paignton – Wednesdays, 9am – 10:30am
Cockington School – Thursdays, 9am – 10:30am
St Martin’s Church Hall, Barton, Torquay (following community café) – Fridays, 9:30am – 10:30am

      What is PEEP?

      Peep supports all parents and carers with children from pregnancy to school, in encouraging their child’s learning and development. You can make a real difference just by talking, playing, singing and sharing books together. Come along – you can your baby or child can make friends, share ideas and activities, and have fun…

      In the group you will get

      • a warm welcome and meet other parents and children
      • tips and activity ideas for things to do in the group and at home
      • singing and stories
      • tips on supporting your child’s learning

      They’re all free or low-cost, and easy to fit into day-to-day life, and they’ll all help your baby or child’s learning.

      Where:

      The Windmill Centre, Pendennis Road, Torquay, TQ2 7QR

      When:

      Every Wednesday, 10am – 12pm.
      No need to book, just drop in.

      Feed and Nurture Group

      This group is for babies aged 0–12 months, offering a variety of activities to support their development, with drop in feeding support available. However your feeding journey looks, you are always welcome – whether you’re looking for practical help, a listening ear, or simply a space to spend time with your baby.

      No Rush To Mush

      Would you like more information on when and how to start your baby on solid food? If so, come along to one of our drop in information sessions held each month at our Feed and Nurture Groups. A Community Nursery Nurse will be there with resources and to talk through the process. Please come along If you have any questions or worries about starting solids.

      Bounce and Rhyme

      Bounce & Rhyme Wednesdays 11am at Torquay Library. A free event which encourages parents, grandparents, carers and guardians to meet at the library and spend time with others. Babies and adults join in with singing favourite nursery rhymes, using language and musical instruments plus sensory toys to help with their development.

      Free Breastfeeding Masterclass in Torquay and Paignton

      Join our free breastfeeding masterclass in Torquay and Paignton. Learn how to breastfeed, get support, and ask questions in a relaxed, friendly session for new parents and families. This warm and welcoming session is led by your local Health Visiting Team and is perfect for anyone expecting a baby or supporting someone who is.

      Whether you’re a first-time parent or have breastfed before, this class will help you feel more confident and supported. Partners, family, and friends are all welcome!

      What you’ll learn

      • How breastfeeding works and why it’s good for you and your baby
      • Tips to help you build a healthy milk supply
      • Comfortable positions and how to help your baby latch
      • How to know if your baby is getting enough milk
      • Where to find local breastfeeding support in Torbay
