The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) provides early support for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties. It works with participating schools across Devon and Torbay. Support includes guided self-help, individual and group sessions, workshops and support for families and school staff.
The Mental Health Support Team supports children and young people with difficulties such as:
The team provides evidence-based, low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy. This focuses on practical guided self-help.
Support may take place individually or in groups, either face to face or online.
The team also helps schools develop their approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing. Support for schools can include:
Some groups and activities may require a referral.
Children and young people aged 5 to 18.
The service also supports parents and carers when this forms part of the child or young person’s support.
The service supports children and young people who:
Devon and Torbay, excluding Plymouth.
The service only works with participating schools.
