The M Word cic

At The M Word cic, we provide specialist support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with autism, ADHD, PDA profiles, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Our team of qualified and experienced mental health and autism professionals deliver therapeutic, child-centred support designed to help young people better understand their emotions, manage anxiety, and develop the confidence and skills needed to access their learning through psychoeducation.

Our sessions are child-led and adapted to meet each young person’s individual needs. We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach that focused on strengths, emotional regulation, and building trust and engagement. As well as this, we can also offer mental health support through therapeutic gaming based
sessions to support young people.

We work closely with children, young people and their families to identify and reduce barriers to learning.
Support may include developing improving self-understanding, and building coping skills around their
anxiety and understanding of their neurodivergent profile, so that young people are able to participate
more comfortably in education.

Our provision can be delivered as part of alternative provision arrangements, including support for young
people educated outside of school (EOTAS). We work collaboratively with families, schools and local
authorities to create supportive pathways that promote wellbeing, engagement and access to education.
Our aim is to help young people feel understood, supported and empowered so they can move forward in their learning and personal development in a way that works for them.
