Neurodiversity toolkit

The toolkit forms part of Torbay’s Graduated Response for inclusion. Use this toolkit to understand and support neurodivergent children and young people. It includes guidance on:

  • understanding neurodiversity and neurodivergence
  • executive functioning, including attention, organisation, working memory and flexible thinking
  • sensory processing differences and motor skills
  • communication, interaction and social understanding
  • emotional regulation, masking and wellbeing
  • managing transitions and change
  • practical strategies and reasonable adjustments for everyday settings
  • assessment, the graduated response and multi-agency working
  • local services, referral pathways and specialist resources

This toolkit helps professionals create inclusive environments and adapt support to meet the individual strengths and needs of neurodivergent children and young people.
