Hidden Disabilities Sunflower

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple way for people with non-visible disabilities, conditions or chronic illnesses to show that they may need extra support, understanding or time. Wearing a Sunflower lanyard, badge or card can help others recognise that a person may need assistance, even if their disability is not immediately apparent.

Details

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower can help by:

  • Raising awareness of non-visible disabilities
  • Helping people communicate that they may need support
  • Encouraging understanding, patience and empathy from others
  • Supporting access to services, transport, education, workplaces and public spaces
  • Helping individuals feel more confident when out in the community

The Sunflower does not provide priority access, queue jumping or special treatment. It is a voluntary way of indicating that a person may need additional support or understanding.
