Stover Country Park consists of 114 acres of woodland, heathland, grassland, lake and marsh and provides a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities.
The sustainably built nature interpretation centre offers displays interpreting the wealth of plants and wildlife found at Stover and includes a CCTV link controlled with a joystick to view Stover lake and its inhabitants. The aerial walkway, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, gives a tree top perspective of one of Stover’s woodlands.
A lake-side bird hide provides the ideal opportunity to sit and watch completely undetected as the lake and marsh creatures go about their daily routine. The Ted Hughes poetry trail and children’s trail takes in poetry posts each displaying a poem by Ted Hughes relating to wildlife of the natural world.
A range of activities (ranger led) are available to school groups and private groups along with public walks and activities ranging from pond dipping and minibeast hunts to earth education and bushcraft skills.
