Play Torbay

We offer full or part-time placements for young people, referred by local authorities and schools, who do not find it easy to fit into existing educational provision.

We unlock a young person’s interests and abilities through facilitated experimentation and immersive activity; Through play we help children learn how to make sense of the world around them. It is well known that play can help children develop social and cognitive skills, mature emotionally and gain the self confidence required to engage in new experiences and environments; Recognising we all learn differently we use a balance of play, structured and guided activities to support learners to find an effective way to achievement and success.

Our aim is to find a way for each individual to study in a supportive and social environment, one which is nurturing, involving and has meaning for them.

We offer:

  • Play-based academic curriculum support;
  • Transitional work in schools;
  • Arts Award Certification (Accredited Trinity
    College, London);
  • Junior Introduction to Playwork (Accredited
    University of Gloucester);
  • Design & Build qualification (Accredited
    University of Gloucester);

Alternative provision is only arranged as part of an educational package via school’s or the Local Authority.
