Sea Kayak Torbay (SKT) offers residential families, our early-week saver adventure through the school holidays
From September 29th to April 18th SKT are offering South Devon resident families discounted adventures in the English Riviera. If you are a resident family and quote the FIS directory and provide proof of address our half day tours will be £30 per person (family half day tour £120) (each child must be in a tandem boat with an adult) starting at 13:30 to 17:00 to get the best of the sunshine through the cooler days and launching from a sheltered location there is no better way to get into a new sport or brush up on your skills over the winter and where we will bring the Geopark to life.
Sharing an experience like this with different generations is an easy way to learn new skills together and bond as a family. We will travel less than 4km and use the kayaks as a vehicle to take in the Geopark. We will always stop on a secluded beach, we may catch fish to cook on a beach fire or toast marshmallows. As Leave no Trace certified trainers we see the importance of mixing in bushcraft and hope to develop our community to become stewards of the outdoors through looking at conservation and preservation of our habitats.
With multiple amazing tours, we can easily access places of outstanding natural beauty and dramatic rock formations. Torbay as a unique place to explore, and something that SKT takes full advantage of in the tours we offer. It is something we feel our community should be aware off and get to witness its beauty, safely.
We work with our families on a Less-is-More policy, using only the very latest touring sea kayaks. We all have our idea of our families capability based on our background experiences. This also shows in many views of Kayaking and a fear of being trapped in the boat. If you let SKT tame kayaking and the sea for your next adventure you can be sure to come away wanting to go straight back out again.
As the evenings draw in we will be offering sunset taster tours. You need to book in advance for any tours but also check in the night before for launch location. These tours will run from 1700 – 1900 at £20 p/p for 4 or more.

If you haven’t been kayaking for years or if this is the first time, you’ll be amazed how comfortable our touring kayaks are with quality backrests that support your lumbar and footrests that you can adjust to get that perfect comfortable position. As we only use Greenland Style Touring Kayaks you can even stay completely dry throughout the experience and just have a dip in the sea when you actually want to. We use Tandem touring kayaks for their comfort, their glide through the water and the fabulous one on one time with your child, and, through having a small number of boats on the water we are able to easily communicate throughout the tour.
What to Bring
Please bring wet shoes, sporting clothes i.e running or gym wear/leggings and waterproof trousers. We will supply everything else including jackets, trousers and base layers if needed. Please bring a water bottle and a snack. It’s better to avoid cotton and denim clothing.

Notes : This is the residential address where the boats are stored and the office is.
We are a mobile company and meet our participants at the beach where we are launching. At no point will we need to meet clients at the residential address.

Details : Price is set on a tandem kayak with parent and child at £60 per boat or £30 p/p for a half day tour. Our evening taster/sunset tour is now £20 per person based on a family of 4 attending.

Other notes : We can operate anywhere in the UK but focus on Torbay and South Devon as this is where we are located. The trailer can be taken to any local waterhole that is within remit.
We are accredited by AALA to take youth groups of up to 12 participants from the age of 8 years old.

Details : We are able to offer tours for those with accessible needs as long as we can maintain their dignity getting in and out of the boats. We would use a sliding plank to maneuver from chair to seat. WE would run a taster tour as we will choose to work from slipway to slipway rather than attempting to land on a secluded beach where we would not be able to take a wheelchair. If the carer/parent is happy to carry over uneven ground then we can offer a half day excursion with a remote beach visit.
