Each Unique Child Presents in Their Own Way – Early Years – Sensory processing needs
The child may have a particular liking to experiencing a repeated activity through their senses.
The child may enjoy the experience themselves in person or with an object –
e.g. spinning themselves around and around or they enjoy spinning objects around and around.
e.g. being enclosed in a small space or wrapping objects up.
The child may find some textures against their skin enjoyable and some difficult to tolerate e.g. labels in clothing; enjoying clothing which keeps the child cool or warm.
The child may find certain smells, lighting or noises manageable whereas other smells, lighting or noises are very difficult.
The child may only eat foods with specific textures whether crunchy or soft.
The child may experience dysregulation when they are presented with situations which they find it difficult to process through their senses.
